My Journey as an Automotive Journalist
Discovering My Passion
I’m Sarah Rogers, the lead test driver and reviewer for BMW Insights. My passion for the BMW brand started from reading car magazines as a teenager. The test drives and technical details immediately captivated me.
Launching My Career
I studied journalism in college and landed an internship at a major automotive publication. This kickstarted my career testing new model releases and writing reviews. Over the past decade, I’ve test driven hundreds of vehicles from all major automakers.
Falling for BMW
I quickly realized BMW was my favorite brand – rewarding to drive yet practical enough for daily use. BMWs perfectly balanced performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology.
Going Behind the Scenes
I’ve attended auto shows across North America, Europe, and Asia. I’m one of the first journalists to test drive new BMW prototypes. I’ve interviewed countless BMW designers, engineers, and test drivers picking their brains.
Performance Driving Training
My technical knowledge comes from intensive training programs at BMW’s performance driving schools. I’m also lucky to call several BMW racers friends and colleagues. This gives me a racer’s perspective on vehicle dynamics.
My Approach
I bring an analytical, critical eye to my test drives and reviews. I provide insightful pros and cons analyses based on real world testing. I attend BMW launch events to bring readers sneak peeks at new models before they hit showrooms.
My Role
At BMW Insights, I test drive the latest BMWs as well as competitors’ models. I provide trusted comparisons to highlight key strengths and weaknesses. I also share the behind-the-scenes details I’ve gleaned from my industry connections.
Life Outside Cars
When I’m not test driving, I enjoy hiking, cycling, and live music. I’m based in Detroit but am often on the road for weeks at a time attending media events and auto shows.
